HEARTBREAKING. Not only is it the third and final documentary, but Saara Renvall & Daniel Palillo prove to be a design team who really know how to pull the strings attached to the heart. Are there strings attached to the heart? Well, in any case, the product they came up with touched us there.
ROUND TWO. Experience the experiment. Tastebuddies by Heineken = One container + Two designers + One host + Flow Festival + One illustrator = One New Product. And good vibes as a by-product.
So did you think that instant chemistry and conflicting tastes can’t happen between two people at the same time? Think again. Or you don’t even need to do that, because you can just press play above, and see the chemistry & conflicts between Kirsi Nisonen & Jani Leinonen.
THIS IS IT. The documentary of the first Tastebuddies by Heineken idea session (put together by Kennel Helsinki). Experience the experiment.
Two designers (Jufo Peltomaa and Freeman).
One big bad host (Tuomas Toivonen).
One container (at Flow Festival).
One visual brief (two images).
One new product (?).
One mighty Dutch illustrator (Parra).
And then what? Conflicting tastes! Bursting brains! Crazy creativity! Perky personalities! Good vibes! See for yourself.
The best-looking posters you’re gonna see this year are here. Three limited edition posters are being given FOR FREE right now in Helsinki’s Design District (and beyond, eg. in Siltanen). Each A2-sized poster features one of the ideas from the Tastebuddies by Heineken event illustrated by Dutch wonderboy Parra. These are NICE.
The posters are available in too many locations to list here, but we’ll list them anyway: Artek, Beam, Urban a, Design Forum Finland, The Green Dress, Nolla,
Miun Shop, IVANAhelsinki, 3union4design, Popot, We got Beef, Asuna and more to be confirmed soon. Go grab ‘em while they’re still there!
And last things last: You do realise that this is a post about posters?
Oho, Helsingin ydinkeskustan ulkopuolella pääsee oikeaan elokuvateatteriin.
Sinisille penkeille kannattaa suunnata Rakkautta & Anarkiaa -päätöspäivänä sunnuntaina 26.9. Silloin näytetään karkea rockumentti The White Stripes and the Great White Northern Lights.
Kino Tulion voi myös vuokrata. 77-paikkaisen teatterin vuokra on 123 euroa per tunti.
Three dudes looking semi-professional and all, waiting for something… Of course they’re waiting for the premiere of the first Tastebuddies Documentary! It will focus on the first session, where Jufo Peltomaa and Freeman put their tastes and creativity to test.
To be honest, the shot above is just a piece that leaked to us from the documentary’s editing desk, where people are sweating like it was summer again to get all the pieces to fit together.
The documentary premieres this week! So very soon.
The tastebuddiest idea at the Habitare Design Fair 2010 was Pally, a cool stool you can use to tell a story to your ass by re-organising the sticks in the bit where you’re supposed to sit. True story: Kids love it! For more mature tastebuds, the 1st floor – aka “horror show” – was decorated with Masku’s sofa girls with skirts so high I’m not able to show any photos (even with the site’s age control). Design is taste!
Pally was a part of Habitare’s section called Protoshop that was put together by Imu Design (includes one of our very own Tastebuddy-designers, Saara Renvall). Check out rest of the marvellous Protoshop ideas from young’n’upcoming Saara Renvallsright here.
PS. Free idea for high schoolers: how about some tricky ’ABI’ joke around the fair name? C’mon, I’ve seen worse!
Fashion designer Daniel Palillo reveals the secret to design inspiration. Is it preparation, preparation, preparation? Press play and see.
Next up: The documentary about the Tastebuddies by Heineken event. Experience the experiment that led to three sparkling new products. Conflicting tastes! Perky personalities! Good vibes! Soon!
Top illustrator Parra faced a daunting task during the Tastebuddies by Heineken event. Was he cool about it before stepping into the container? As ever! Check out part 4 of our daily teasers leading to the publication of the documentary of the Tastebuddies by Heineken event.
Tastebuddies by Heineken takes place at Flow Festival Aug 14th. It is
a show where two top designers with conflicting tastes are locked in a
container and their ideas are illustrated by Parra. Follow the event
and the life of the newborn products at this blog.
